TROPICANA LAS VEGAS INTRODUCES SOUTH BEACH MARKETPLACE, CASUAL GRAB-AND-GO FOOD & DRINK COURT

Las Vegas, NV (April 12, 2011) – As part of its ambitious $180 million transformation, this past Friday the Tropicana Las Vegas received an overwhelmingly positive response to its newly unveiled South Beach Marketplace, a grab-and-go food & drink court serving as a casual counterpart to its existing variety of spectacular restaurants. Located right off the casino floor, South Beach Marketplace offers an array of quick-food choices, seating for up to 90 people, and round-the-clock hours of operation. It was developed under the direction of Tropicana Executive Chef George Bargisen, who joined the Tropicana team in October 2009.

South Beach Marketplace outlets include:

Pellegrino Pizza & Deli – An offshoot of Tropicana’s newly relaunched Italian ristorante, Bacio by Carla Pellegrino, this casual counter-service outlet offers customizable pizza, by the pie or by the slice, along with calzones, stromboli, burgers, hot & cold sandwiches, sides and breakfasts. Pizza aficionados can expect an upper-crust experience from Chef Pellegrino, whose pizzas received high praise from Eating Las Vegas: “Great dough, superior toppings, nice char, perfect balance among ingredients – her pizzas are everything you’d want in a first-class pie.”

Nuudles: World Noodle Bar – Asian noodle emporium featuring a variety of wok-fried dishes with meat, poultry, seafood and veggie options; fried rice and congee (classic rice porridge commonly eaten for breakfast); dim sum, dumplings, wontons and rolls; soups; and desserts.

The Naked Spoon – Yogurt and gelato shop, with a vast selection of classic (Bare Mango) and tart (Green Apple Pucker) yogurt flavors in a self-serve environment. Toppings include fresh-cut tropical fruit, classic candy, and healthy options including granola and organic nuts. The Naked Spoon also offers a wide variety of homemade gelato and naked smoothies.

Starbucks – The first Starbucks on the Las Vegas Strip with a new generation of high-end design and the new Starbucks logo, featuring a full menu of hot and cold beverages, and a wide assortment of muffins, scones, fresh-baked pastries and sweet treats like Cake Pops, Tiramisu Cake and Red Velvet Whoopie Pie, as well as a premium items including Turkey Kalamata, Ham and Pepper Jack Ciabatta; Tomato Mozzarella Panini; and market salads.

“We’re thrilled to complement our food & beverage program with four strong brands under the South Beach Marketplace umbrella,” stated Tom Recine, vice president of food & beverage and retail at Tropicana Las Vegas.
